The lab was recommended for funding by the Joint Warfighter Medical Research Program (JWMRP) in support of a Phase I clinical trial for HIV TIPs.
July 2020
The lab received an award, in partnership with VxBiosciences, Inc., to study TIPs as applied to COVID-19.
March 5, 2020
Leor spoke at the TEDMED conference in Boston, MA discussing the lab’s research with TIPs and his many years of work towards this technology.
The lab was awarded the NIH/NIDA Avant Garde Award for HIV/AIDS and Substance Use Disorder Research (DP1).

The lab got together for the annual Weinberger Lab retreat held in Lake Tahoe.

Maike Hansen celebrated her last day with our lab today! She is starting her own lab at the Radboud University, Netherlands.

Leor presented the lab’s work at a handful of seminars, including ones at Duke and the US Military HIV Research Program.

Elizabeth Tanner was asked to speak at UC Berkeley earlier this month to discuss her work with TIPs. She also submitted a paper on TIPs for publication.
We welcomed to the lab a new postdoc, Dan Lewis!
Leor traveled to the University of Chicago to give a seminar about the lab’s work.

Congratulations, Noam, Sonali and Leor on the publication of your paper ‘Feedback-mediated signal conversion promotes viral fitness’, published in PNAS. Read it here.
The study which prompted this paper uncovered the mechanism that allows the human cytomegalovirus - a leading cause of birth defects and transplant failures - to replicate. This could open new therapeutic avenues to treat not only cytomegalovirus, but other viruses too. Read more

Leor won the PI Mini-Prep Challenge Fundraising Event for the 2015 AIDS Walk with a final DNA concentration of ~750 ng / uL! He won despite having to wear handcuffs, not being able to look at the instructions, and was heard yelling "I'm just a theorist!" throughout the competition.
